Description
IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT HOW MUCH EXTRA TO ADD FOR YOUR FUNDRAISING, WE CAN ADVISE ON THIS.
There is no limit on numbers; if you have the space and the participants, go for it! If you have a lot of interest (eg more than 30) you may prefer to run consecutive sessions AND/OR have plenty of supervisors if working with children.
We strongly recommend that you only offer items from our basic range to large groups as this gives plenty of choice whilst keeping costing simple. None of our other items are sale or return.
It is the organiser’s responsibility to make sure there is Public Liability Insurance in place that covers your event.
ORGANISER INSTRUCTIONS
It can seem a bit daunting at the start before everyone is settled making.
This is how we manage our events:
1) use the containers to decant the glass so that up to 4 people are sharing.
2) ask people to read the maker’s sheet BEFORE they start.
3) have paper for makers to work on (not provided), this helps with cleaning up. It’s really important to us that no work arrives stuck to any paper, so you will need to take them off the paper and put them into the trays for transportation.
AT THE END OF YOUR EVENT
HAVE YOU made sure the items are grouped under one name and taken a photo?
HAVE YOU transferred the makes to the stackable trays?
HAVE YOU sent us your photos via WhatsApp on 07565449695 or smARTsy? (do not email).
HAVE YOU placed your organiser details sheet on top of your trays?
We will fire and drill the items, and give them back to you as soon as possible.
Please allow up to 2 weeks before contacting us to ask if they are ready.
FOR THE MAKERS – print image from gallery and give one per group
Welcome to this glass fusion session, we hope you have fun – please read the following before starting your works of art!
You have the following:
– Plain glass for the base: it doesn’t matter which side you use, but only work on one side, and the technique is to jigsaw rather than stack. Stick onto the top of the base shape.
– Colourful glass: boxes of chunky sheet glass, tubs of grains (frit) and rods(stringers). These can be put on a layer of sheet glass as a top decoration. If we have them, we will also send beads.
– Glue: this is just pva, it will take about 20 minutes to set. Dab, do not smear.
DO NOT stick glass to the sides as it will roll off in the kiln.
DO NOT go over the edge of the base (even a teeny bit).
DO NOT stick anything on top of the beads.
DO NOT pour glue onto the base.
DO NOT get glue on the underside of the base, it must not be glued to your paper.
DO NOT use a lot of glue as your pieces won’t stick in time for transportation and will slide off. Use small dabs of glue rather than smearing.
Safety- you are working with glass, work slowly and with awareness of others. Do not touch eyes until after hands have been washed. Only snap the thin rods downwards and low to the table – be aware that the points are extremely sharp.
By reading this sheet, you accept full responsibility for your safety and the safety of anyone nearby. Adults remain responsible for ensuring that younger people work safely and with consideration to others around them.
WHEN FINISHED
Arrange all the makes from your group the right way up, and on the back of this sheet write one name and phone number. Place the right way up next to your makes, and take a photo.
We will let you know about collection, which we expect to be around 2 weeks.
If we have discounted for you, you may be expected to name match.
